2017 Show

2017 Hawai`i NNL
Ala Moana Hotel, Garden Lanai, March 26, 2017
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (ends one hour earlier this year)
Hawaii’s only model car show!

So, what is an NNL? An NNL is a model car show that is not judged model car contest. It is a model car show, like a big huge display, where everyone brings their model cars and shows them off on the tables, and the visitors throughout the day vote on their favorite model or models, as the case may be. It is patterned after the NNL shows that started in Toledo, Ohio.

The theme of this year’s show is 1/24-25 scale Four-Wheel Drive Pickups, SUV’s, Jeeps, etc. Any model that is meant to be driven off road. Lifted, raised, the higher the better!

The show will be held once again at the Ala Moana Hotel, Garden Lanai, on Sunday, March 26, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Due to another event in the same room that evening, we need to be out of the Garden Lanai room by 4:00 pm.

Entrant Fee for models is $10 per person. You can enter as many models as you want for that $10. General Admission for visitors to the show is only $2.

This year we will have a 1/24 scale Slot Car Drag Strip, sponsored by Mad Myron’s Raceway. It will be a 1/8 scale drag strip, complete with staging area, timing lights, and a run off area. There will be NO GLUE allowed for tire traction. Only magnets. Power will be limited to 12 volts, 2 amps. The standard motors allowed will be the mini can motor with sealed can type of motor. No open cans, no 16D’s, no Group 20’s. Nothing wild. For more information on the Slot Car Race, contact Myron at madmyron.rh @ gmail.com.

The swap meet is a great place to find some older model car kits, and our friend, Tucker, will be there with his Hot Wheels and automotive diecasts for sale as well. Vendor tables are available for $20 per table (after March 1, 2017, $25 per table).
